Newtons Three Laws of Motion

Students will be able to define and understand Newton's Three Laws of Motion. Students will be able to analyze an event and explain what is happening using the terms: acceleration, momentum, force, friction, mass, velocity, distance, time, and speed. Students will be able to calculate word problems using these same terms.

Week 1- Speed, Time, Distance and Velocity

By the end of this week you will be able to solve word problems regarding speed, time, distance and velocity, and understand the difference between speed and velocity.

About your Science Teacher

Hello, I am Mrs. Hardison. I am really glad you are in my class this year. You are going to be performing a lot of hands-on activities, group collaborations, and critical thinking in my classroom. Scientists are the world's detectives, it is evidence based, and is best learned through doing. Students will find I am very easy going as long as they are being respectful and safe in my classroom. Nothing upsets me more than seeing a student purposefully hurt another in any way.

A little information about me, I graduated from MSU in 2000 with a Bachelors in Biology, after which I moved to Kansas City, and was hired on at an environmental laboratory as a chemist. My husband transferred to Springfield in 2005, at which time I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. Once my kids were in school I returned to the classroom myself and earned my teaching certificate in 2015. I will have my Masters in Teaching by 2016, after I finish my research project. I have written a teen fiction adventure that was published in 2012, so I also have a passion for reading and writing. (Students in my class will learn how to read and write as it pertains to the science field, and be able to differentiate science from pseudoscience.) I have 2 kids, a husband, and 2 giant dogs. In my spare time I like to hang out with my family doing anything outdoors.

I love teaching. I enjoy my students, encourage creative thinking, and prepare them for their future. In my classroom you will work hard, be a team, have a voice, and have fun.
